It's all coming together

Dean, Ryan and Cody worked on a variety of inside and outside tasks today. Next week, while we are away in Northland, the last two windows and the bifold doors for the extension should be installed.

Inside work

Poor weather over the last couple of days so lots done indoors: Pantry framework, ensuite and kitchen floor constructed in the old laundry area and the opening made for the first of the two internal french doors.

Window day!!

As well as the first four new windows being installed in the extension today,  Peter Allum installed the round leadlight window in the front door.

And Ryan and Cody installed the first four new windows in the extension.

Windows day?

Hoping the windows will arrive today. Yesterday I picked up another 300 lineal metres of matai flooring boards so this morning Cody and I stacked them, plus the ones I had put in the shed a month ago, inside the extension which is mainly watertight and will be even more so if the windows are put in today.

Dean is working on the roof over the steps up to the verandah from near where the garage will eventually be.

The first four windows have arrived.

East weatherboards

Ryan put weatherboards on the east wall in anticipation of the windows arriving soon.

And we went to see Peter Allum in Featherston and the stained glass window for the front door.

East and west

Ryan has nearly finished the weatherboards on the west side and is Dean continuing work on the
east deck covering.

Stained glass windows

The two sets of french doors linking the hall to the extension, both opening into the dining room, will have stained glass windows.

Through Pete Bassant, who's doing our kitchen joinery, we stumbled upon a great stained glass window maker in Featherston and it turns out he'd repaired the stained glass window next to our front door a few years ago.

This is the window on the bottom left being repaired.

 So while he waits for the new doors to be built he is making a new round stained glass window for the front door to replace the plain glass that's there at the moment.
